Severn AC vice-captain Simon Fortnam won his first open race since joining the club in November 2004 when he won the Highworth 5 mile road race.
Fortnam quickly went clear of the 450 runners and through the opening mile in under 5 minutes.
A former member of Highworth Running Club, Fortnam used his knowledge of the course to good effect. He finished in 26.26, just a second outside his best time.
