Whitsun 5 mile road race Report

KYRAN Hale of Severn Athletic club continued his record breaking exploits with victory in the White Horse Whitsun five mile at Sandhurst.

The 15-year-old became the the youngest runner to win the event and broke the age group record by over a minute.

Hale held off the challenge of 18-year-old Londoner Alex Jones, sweeping past his rival at the four-mile marker to win by 100 metres.

Third was Severn captain Stephen Hale who overcame an insulin in-balance just before the race to record his best time of the year.

Severn Veteran Dave Lander won the over 40 prize in fourth place. Steve Bradley (6th) improved his PB by 20 seconds. Andy Norman (8th) won the over 55 award and Severn's victorious team was closed in by Neil Taylor (12th).

Severn won two other age group prizes through Greg Layshon (V60) and Vanessa Anderton (Lady Vet 55).

Swindon 5K Park Run: 158 Vanessa Anderton (LV55) 31mins 03secs. 170 ran.
