County road relays - 4 x 3.15 miles
Kyran Hale and the victorious veteran over 40 team were Seven AC's stand out performers in the County Road Relay Championships held at the White Horse.
Hale more than held his own against Seniors on the opening leg. He ran a new course Under 15 record of 16mins 55secs, equivalent to a 20 second improvement on his 5K best.
The veterans team engaged in a thrilling battle with city rivals Gloucester AC. Dave Lander got Severn off to a good start running the day's fastest veteran time of 17mins 21secs, thirty seconds in front of Gloucester. On lap two Dave Lowthian increased the Severn lead to 85 seconds, before on leg three Ian Smith came in 61 seconds ahead. On the anchor leg Ian Overthrow had to defend mightily as Ian Summers of Gloucester closed the gap. He allowed Summers up to his shoulder before kicking with 100 metres to go, opening up a four second gap and securing Severn's defence of the title.
In the "B" team two youngsters from Newent school Nathan Morris and Josh Mogg made their Senior debuts.
