Gloucester Festival 7 mile road race
Severn AC maintained their domination of the Gloucester Festival Seven Mile road race.
They have won every team event since the race moved to the Pilot Inn in 2002, although this year Ian Williams (Tipton) came close to breaking Josh Lilly's course record of 36.49 set in 2005. After a brave front running effort he failed by nine seconds, with James Rose (Severn) second after improving his personal best by two and a half minutes.
Fourth place Dave Lander ran much closer to the pace than usual and was rewarded with the veterans prize and a course PB by 30 seconds.
Simon Fortnam (eighth) and club captain Steve Hale (12th) continued their return to good form after injury , while over 50 winner Tom Meheran (13th) was thrilled with his time of 43 minutes.
Steve Bradley (17th) ran a PB and George Scully (28th) completed the team.
The ladies race produced another runaway winner in Nicola Sykes (Bedford) who narrowly missed Jo Brewer's 2006 course record.
Behind her Severn duo Jo Fletcher was second in a new Severn best of 43.27 and Lucie Woodyatt took third.
