Midlands 12 stage road relays
Josh Lilly was the stand out performer in the Midlands 12 stage road relays in Sutton Park.
He became the first City athlete to lead on the opening leg since Gerald Neely in 1987.
With two miles of the 5.38 miles to go he broke away opening up a 40 metre lead and holding on up the closing uphill finish.
Lilly's time of 26.40 was the second fastest overall time of the day.
Afterwards Severn's depleted team concentrated on finishing in the top 25 positions to qualify for the Nationals.
There were welcome returns for Dave Gilbert (17.12), Steve Hale ((18.50) and Gareth Howells (17.40). Team manager Rob Cytlau borrowed kit and ran the 12th leg only losing one place.
