Winter 5 mile road race
The Winter five mile road race in Sandhurst again provided the chance for quality runners to record fast times.
Jon Wills from Bristol became the second athlete to break the 24 minute barrier with 23.57. By halfway only Welsh International Craig Hopkins was matching Wills pace. In the next mile this challenge was gone as Wills raced home to the second fastest time in the Uk this year and 17 seconds outside Dan Robinson's course record.
Swansea dominated the team race with six scorers in the top 14. Severn were second team led home by captain Alex Hope in 13th place. Staying off the early pace he concentrated on running a strong second half and he won the veterans over 40 award.
James Rose took 64 seconds off his best time when finishing 16th in 28.12.
New member Steve Bradley was 24th in 31.19 and John Holland was 25th and 1st veteran 45 in 31.22
Andy Brown (30th)ran his best race since becoming an over 50 veteran and the team was completed by Dave Buckle (33rd) who was also the top veteran 60.
Bristol and West led home by ladies winner Kate Goodhead (18th) were runaway ladies winners.
