45th Christmas 3 mile road race & 180 yard hill climb.
Luke Herbert(Gloucester AC) won the annual Gloucester Christmas morning three-mile road race handicap starting as scratch man behind all the other competitors.
His main target was to catch last year's champion Tom Meheran (Severn), who started a minute ahead of him, which he managed by halfway.
Herbert, 29, then proceeded to run down the early starters and finally hit the front 400m from home winning by 40 metres, with his actual time of 16.47 breaking Jason Gresswell's six-year record by 58 seconds.
THREE Tewkesbury AC runners competed successfully in the traditional uphill sprint.
The distance of the race was just 180 metres, although the climb itself was the test, and the Tewkesbury trio made a clean sweep of the podium places.
Debbie Lee became the new champion, with Sally Jordan in second place and Rob Jordan in third.
